The Food Boat Craze: Waterfront Dining Has a Whole New Meaning

Forget waterfront dining. How about dining right on the water?
Food boats are putting a whole new spin on eating by the sea, and it’s easy to see why people love the experience. There’s something pretty unforgettable about spending the day on the boat or relaxing along the beach and seeing a food boat pull up with something fresh and delicious.
At Seaside Ceviche, that’s exactly what we wanted to create: great food combined with an experience you don’t get at a traditional restaurant.
When the Restaurant Comes to You
One of the best parts about being on the water is not having to leave it.
Instead of packing everything up, heading back to the marina, getting in the car and finding somewhere to eat, food boats bring the experience directly to boaters and beachgoers.
We love seeing the reactions when people realize what our boat is.
Someone spots the Seaside Ceviche sign, another person waves us down, and before long we have people walking through the water or pulling their boats alongside ours to grab ceviche and an ice-cold fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Talk about waterfront dining.
No tables. No reservations. No dress code.
Just sunshine, saltwater and fresh food.
More Than Food—It’s an Experience
Part of the food boat craze isn’t simply what you’re eating. It’s where you’re eating it and how you got it.
You might be anchored with friends, floating in the Gulf, hanging out at a sandbar or spending the afternoon on the beach when lunch suddenly arrives by boat.
That’s what makes it memorable.
We’ve met people visiting Florida from all over, local families spending the weekend on the water, groups celebrating special occasions and boaters who have literally turned around to come find us.
Some customers even come back for round two.
Those moments are what make the fresh-off-the-boat experience so much fun for us, too.
Food Made for the Water
Of course, the experience wouldn’t mean much without great food.
As a chef, I wanted Seaside Ceviche to be something I was proud to serve—not simply convenient food from a boat.
Our Mexican-inspired ceviche is made fresh with bright citrus, vegetables, herbs and bold flavors that are especially refreshing on a hot Florida day.
Pair it with an ice-cold, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and you’ve got a meal that feels like it was made for sunshine and saltwater.
Because it was.
Made Fresh. Made for the Water.
A Different Kind of Waterfront Dining
Florida has no shortage of beautiful waterfront restaurants, but there’s something completely different about enjoying your food with your feet in the water.
That’s the magic of the food boat experience.
The boat becomes the food truck of the sea.
The sandbar becomes your dining room.
The Gulf breeze is your air conditioning.
And your waterfront table?
Wherever you happen to drop anchor.
Catch Seaside Ceviche on the Water
We’re proud to be part of this growing way of enjoying food on Florida’s Gulf Coast and even more excited that people have embraced our little ceviche boat.
For us, Seaside Ceviche has always been about bringing together two things we love: great food and life on the water.
So if you’re spending the day around Anna Maria Island and you see the Seaside Ceviche boat coming your way, give us a wave.
You just found lunch.
And that’s what we call the Fresh Off the Boat Experience.
