From California to Florida: The Inspiration Behind Seaside Ceviche
When we moved from California to Florida in 2021, we quickly fell in love with the Bradenton and Anna Maria Island area. The beautiful beaches, warm Gulf waters, boating lifestyle, and sense of community made it easy to call this place home.
But there was one thing we found ourselves missing: the bold, fresh flavors of the authentic Mexican food we grew up enjoying in California.
We tried plenty of places after moving here, but we often found ourselves searching for the consistency and flavor we were used to. We wanted fresh ingredients, bright citrus, a little heat, and food that was simple but absolutely packed with flavor.
Little did we know, that craving would eventually become Seaside Ceviche.
It Started with Days at the Beach
Like so many people who live on Florida's Gulf Coast, we spend a lot of time near the water.
But after enough beach and boating days, we started getting tired of packing the same foods in the cooler. Sandwiches were convenient, but after sitting around on ice for a few hours, they weren't always quite as appetizing as when we packed them.
We wanted something cold, fresh, flavorful, and refreshing—something you actually crave when you're sitting under the hot Florida sun.
So I started making ceviche.
Fresh shrimp, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, plenty of freshly squeezed lime juice, and the seasonings that bring everything together.
It became our perfect beach food.
Cold. Citrusy. A little spicy. Full of flavor.
And most importantly, refreshing.
"This Is the Best Ceviche I've Ever Had"
Before there was a Seaside Ceviche boat, website, or business, there were simply containers of ceviche being passed around to family and friends.
And we kept hearing the same thing:
"This is the best ceviche I've ever had."
People would go back for another bite…and another…and pretty soon the container would be empty.
Those reactions stayed with us.
We started thinking: Why are we only making this for ourselves?
There are thousands of people visiting Anna Maria Island and the surrounding Gulf Coast every year looking for exactly what we were looking for—a delicious alternative to the typical food you pack for a day on the water.
That's when the idea really started coming together.
Bringing a Taste of California's Mexican Flavor to Florida's Gulf Coast
Seaside Ceviche was inspired by two places we love.
California gave us the flavor. Florida gave us the lifestyle.
We wanted to combine the authentic Mexican flavors we knew and loved in California with the boating, beach, and sandbar culture we've fallen in love with here on Florida's Gulf Coast.
Instead of waiting for people to leave the beach to find something good to eat, we thought:
Why not bring it straight to the water?
That's the heart of Seaside Ceviche.
Fresh Mexican-style shrimp ceviche and fresh-squeezed lemonade made for Florida days on the water and brought directly to the people enjoying them.
Then We Finally Put the Idea to the Test
Last weekend, Seaside Ceviche officially hit the water.
Seeing people enjoy something that started in our own kitchen was incredibly rewarding.
What meant even more were the reactions.
Customers came up one after another, tried our ceviche and lemonade, and told us how delicious everything was. We even had people come back for more.
Hearing someone tell us how much they loved the ceviche or how refreshing the fresh-squeezed lemonade was on a hot Florida afternoon reminded us exactly why we started doing this.
And now, the word is getting around.
We're Just Getting Started
We truly love living in the Bradenton and Anna Maria Island area, and Seaside Ceviche is our way of sharing a little piece of our story with the community that has become our home.
Our goal is simple:
Consistency. Flavor. Freshness. Passion.
Whether you're a local spending Saturday on the water, a family visiting Anna Maria Island for the first time, fishermen heading out for the day, or friends meeting up at the sandbar, we want Seaside Ceviche to become part of those memories.
Something cold and refreshing waiting in the cooler.
Something you look forward to when the Florida sun starts heating up.
And eventually, something you crave before you even get to the water.
But here's the good news: you don't have to wait until the weekend on the water to get your Seaside Ceviche fix.
We also accept pre-orders for delivery Thursday through Sunday, so you can have fresh Seaside Ceviche delivered and ready for the beach, the boat, your vacation rental, a fishing trip, or simply to enjoy at home.
There's just one important thing to remember: orders must be placed by 8 PM the day before your delivery.
There's a reason for that.
We make our ceviche fresh and in small batches. We're not interested in making huge quantities and letting them sit around just so we can say we have more available. Freshness, consistency, and flavor are at the heart of what we do.
So when it's out, it's out!
Pre-ordering the day before is the best way to make sure there's a container with your name on it.
We're counting down the days until we're back out on the water this weekend, meeting more of you and continuing to spread the love we put into every container of ceviche and every bottle of fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Thank you to everyone who supported our first weekend, came back for more, told us how much you enjoyed the food, and helped spread the word about this little idea that started with a container of ceviche in our beach cooler.
California flavor. Florida lifestyle. Made for the water.
See you out there!
